Mission to Seminarians
In St. Paul’s second letter to Timothy, he says in chapter 4, verse 13
“When you come bring the cloak which I left at Troas with Carpus, and the books, especially the parchments.”
St. Paul, knew the value of having good books. Each year we visit Seminarians all over Canada to give them books written by Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen.
Over the course of a seminarian’s training, we try to put the following books into their hands:
The Priest is Not His Own
Those Mysterious Priests
Life of Christ
The Worlds First Love
Treasures of Clay
Calvary and the Mass
The Cries of Jesus from the Cross
These are the Sacraments
Three to Get Married
Victory over Vice
The Armour of God
Peace of Soul
The Way to Happiness
We feel that these books will help these seminarians to develop a love for Christ, The Eucharist and The Blessed Mother. We hope that the wisdom contained in these books will help the seminarians to provide good council to the souls they will encounter.
Along with the books, we also give the seminarians over 400 audio files of talks given by Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen. They can listen to over 200 hours of reflections on various topics. Just think they will actually have five years worth of homilies that they could use when they become priests.
Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen spent the last 10 years of his life given retreats to Priests, Religious and Seminarians. He felt that the best way to restore the Catholic Church to its glory was to fortify and renew the priesthood and religious life. With your help, we hope to continue this work that he began.
